About Us
Our History
For over 30 years, the Suicide Prevention Coalition of Jefferson, Clear Creek, and Gilpin counties has been joining efforts across the board to prevent suicide in our communities. We are a group of dedicated public health professionals, educators, and community advocates with a passion and vision for a safer future.
Many members of our coalition are also folks with lived experience. We strive to uplift the lives of survivors and amplify the voices of hope. Anyone who is passionate about suicide prevention is welcome and encouraged to join.
Our Mission
To change public perception about mental illness and suicide. We aim to educate society about the reality of depression as a treatable condition rather than a personal weakness. By fostering open conversations and sharing stories of hope and recovery, we can create an environment where seeking help for mental health issues is seen as a sign of strength.
We strive to empower individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to recognize warning signs and intervene when someone is in crisis. Through educational campaigns, workshops, and resources tailored for various communities, we can equip people with the tools necessary to provide timely support for those at risk.
